Connection of domain I already own / change my DNS

If you want to turn some domain into your own one or into your business domain for link shortening, all you have to do is change your DNS records in order to "point" at Short.cm.

Warning: Do not change the main (or @ record) DNS settings for a live website. This will immediately disconnect the domain from the host, meaning your website will go down. Short.cm, or any other URL shortener, does not work on an active website, it only works on a domain that is "empty" or not in use.

To connect your DNS, you should to do the following steps:

1) Log into your domain name registrar account (GoDaddy, Hostgator, Register.com, etc).

2) Navigate to DNS Settings page.

3) Add another record and configure as it follows: record type - A; hostname (or name) - enter @) and point to (or Address/Value): A value "52.21.33.16". Domain registration

3a) If your DNS management allows multiple A records, you can add A record with value "52.2.56.64". It will increase stability of your short domain

4) Save your changes.

5) Wait for your domain to be ready. You will receive an email from Short.cm when your domain is configured correctly and DNS settings are propagated worldwide.

Note: This process takes place on your domain host's account, which does vary from registrar to registrar.

Important to know: DNS should be propagated all over the World in order to make the dedicated domain works. If the domain is brand new, it can take only about 15 minutes. But if the dedicated domain was registered in the past it can take up to 24 hours.
